Annabeth Robinson is an Creative Technologist and Filmmaker based in Leeds, predominantly using immersive technologies, screen based virtual worlds and game platforms since 2005, to explore multi-user interactive artworks and education experiences.

She is currently Course Leader for MA Animation at University of Salford and has been teaching for 20 years across various institutions – supporting students development in Creative Development, Industry Engagement and Practice Based Research across the Animation discipline. Her academic development has led to her being recognised as a Senior Fellow of the HEA.

She has created visuals and animated video backdrops for Ya Devi – at the Stage, Leeds – May 2015 – an Arts Council funded Dance Theatre show devised by Devika Rao. She was also involved in video aspects of Mermaids Tale, an immersive theatre project at Bramley Bath’s November 2015, devised by Yorkshire Life Aquatic, and funded by Arts Council and Heritage Lottery. She has continued to collaborate with Yorkshire Life Aquatic and University of Salford to produce an immersive installation for Lightwaves 2023 – Human Aquarium | Deep Water. Her newest collaboration in 2025 is with Bright & Shiny creating and developing pipelines for immersive storytelling using virtual production techniques for Havelok’s Kingdom

She helps facilitate and host – ‘Animated Connections’ an academic event with University of Salford in partnership with Manchester Animation Festival. Annabeth also convenes the Yorkshire Animation Meetup events, a quarterly gathering of the animation community in Leeds.

Her previous research into serious games – was jointly with University of Leeds, Department of Earth and Environment – producing a virtual mapping game for the Geology Dept. She has co-presented this project at conferences including ALT-C in September 2015 and JISC Digifest 2017. The project won a Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Digital Innovation in Teaching or Research 2016. It also was shortlisted for the Guardian Higher Education Awards – Digital Innovation 2017
